First Wedding Photography – Second Shooter with nathan colbert
First Wedding photography: Adrian & Elizabeth
Second Photographer for Hawkeye Media – Shot Using On-Camera Flash
Every photographer remembers their first wedding—and this one will stay with me forever.
As the second photographer for Hawkeye Media, I had the honor of working alongside and learning from Nathan Colbert, whose guidance gave me the confidence to step into a fast-paced, emotionally rich environment with clarity and purpose.
From the laughter in the groom’s suite to the quiet grace of the bride getting ready, I focused on the in-between moments—the ones that whisper just as loudly as the big ones. The raw glances. The warm light spilling over a first dance. The pride in a father’s eyes.
All of these memories were captured using on-camera flash—a technique I was still learning, but through Nathan’s mentorship, I began to truly understand. His direction helped me navigate everything from changing lighting conditions to capturing motion without losing the intimacy of each frame.
✨ What This Taught Me
On-camera flash isn’t just about exposure—it’s about control. Balancing flash with natural emotion takes practice, but when it works, the images come to life.
Guidance makes all the difference. Having Nathan’s insight reminded me of the value of collaboration and mentorship in creative work.
There’s beauty in every phase of the day. Weddings are a blend of chaos and poetry, and photography helps shape that into legacy.
💍 Adrian & Elizabeth’s Day
Their wedding was full of love, elegance, and joy. Whether they were dancing through clouds of fog on the dance floor or sharing quiet moments in between events, Adrian and Elizabeth reminded me why I love this work—it’s about preserving something real.
🙏 Special Thanks
I’m grateful to Nathan Colbert and Hawkeye Media for the opportunity to be part of this celebration and for guiding me through this first wedding.
