Scarlett Islas is an award-winning director, actor, and multi-disciplinary artist with a unique blend of creative expression and strategic insight. As a first-generation Mexican American, her journey led her from the petrochemical and aerospace sectors into the world of storytelling through acting and filmmaking.
While acting remains her first love, Scarlett has cultivated a deep passion for directing, photography, writing, and cinematography, leading to the creation of Rebellatrix Anima Productions (Rebellious Soul). Her work is rooted in the belief that our souls guide us to express the hidden parts of ourselves, balancing freedom with logic to achieve both artistic and business success.
In 2024, Scarlett released her first feature-length documentary, "Changing Lives - The Acting Class That Changed Her Life," earning a bronze Telly Award and solidifying her commitment to storytelling.
Scarlett’s unique approach combines creativity with the logic of an engineer, connecting all aspects of a project—whether she’s directing, editing, or shooting. She brings a different perspective both behind and in front of the lens, always seeking to capture the depth of the human experience.
A lifelong learner, she embraces the world with curiosity and humility, constantly evolving her craft and helping others do the same.
We all have to start somewhere, and I was so blessed to find this monologue when I began my acting journey at the beginning of 2021 in my first-ever acting class at @myactingstudio. This monologue has followed me through different workshops and classes, and each time, I discover something special. This time was no exception of allowing myself to be pushed in a direction I was not expecting for this character. I want to say a special thank you to my first acting coach, Charles Tentindo, for pushing me outside of my comfort zone and encouraging me to express the character Amy from one of my favorite plays in new and different ways. There is no right or wrong in acting; you simply express and allow the magic within you to run wild and free.
