Rediscovering Houston
A Journey of Creativity and Connection
Returning to Houston after years away has been a journey of rediscovery, not just of the city but of the vibrant creative community that calls it home. My first foray back into this artistic milieu was participating in a photography event organized by Autumn Benton, a day dedicated to collaboration, creativity, and capturing the diverse beauty of Houston.
A Day of Collaboration and Discovery
The event unfolded across three distinct Houston locations, each offering a unique backdrop that spoke to the city's eclectic charm. From the cozy confines of Wild at 1609 Westheimer Rd to the vibrant walls of Lo-Fi at 1629 Westheimer Rd Suite A, and the serene ambiance of Baldwin Park at 1701 Elgin St, we traversed the city, cameras in hand, ready to capture its essence.
This wasn't just an opportunity to photograph the city I'm relearning to call home; it was a chance to connect with fellow photographers and models, many of whom were meeting for the first time. The energy and enthusiasm for sharing knowledge, techniques, and stories were palpable.
Highlighting Local Talent
The talent on display throughout the day was nothing short of inspiring, with a remarkable group of women leading the charge. Their creativity and passion were instrumental in bringing the event to life:
Autumn Benton
The force behind the event, Autumn wore multiple hats as host, photographer, and model, seamlessly bringing together a diverse group of creatives.
Felicia Leigh Johnson
A photographer whose keen eye for detail and ability to capture the essence of her subjects added depth and beauty to the day's collection.
Kelsey Miller
As a model, Kelsey brought vibrancy and poise to the lens, her work highlighting the interaction between model, photographer, and the urban landscape.
Melanie Mac
Melanie's modeling work across the varied backdrops of Houston showcased her versatility and the dynamic range of emotions that photography can evoke.
Taty Tloves
Taty's presence in front of the camera was magnetic, her modeling capturing the spirit of collaboration and the beauty of the moment.
My Photographic Journey
Throughout the day, I aimed to capture not just the visual beauty of our surroundings but the spirit of collaboration and creativity that defined our gathering. Each location brought new challenges and opportunities for creativity, from navigating the bustling streets to capturing the quiet beauty of nature in the park.
